TRAVEL NOTES

FERRY

Driving may be the easiest and most convenient way to get to the Vineyard. Wherever you’re coming from, if you plug in Martha’s Vineyard on your Google Maps, you’ll end up at Woods Hole, MA. This is where you’ll find the Steamship Authority ferries - options are: you can buy a walk on passenger ticket (no reservation needed) or you can make a car reservation ahead of time for a specific date and time (definitely more expensive and these go fast even in the off-season). If you’d like to have a car on island for the weekend, or you just don’t want to have to carry your luggage on the boat, this is a better option than renting a car on island. Our recommendation, don’t wait! Book now ASAP!

Link to ferry reservations: www.steamshipauthority.com/reservations

If you don’t want to bring a car over, you can still drive to Woods Hole and park just outside of town in one of the Steamship Authorities two parking lots: Palmer Avenue Lot (closest) or Thomas B Landers Lot for the weekend, where there’s a free bus shuttle to and from the ferries (takes roughly 10 mins).

Another ferry option is the Rhode Island Fast Ferry that leaves from Quonset, RI. There is parking at the terminal and the trip is one hour and 45 minutes.

If you’re on island without a car, there are plenty of taxi, bus, and Uber options (maybe not as plentiful) from either the airport or ferry terminal on island to take you to your hotel.

FLY

At this time of year, there are limited commercial flights to and from the island, so if exploring this option, we recommend booking flights WELL in advance to avoid price increases. In the off-season, the only airports that run direct flights to and from the island are NYC (JFK or LGA) and Boston (Logan). There are also flights from Washington, D.C., but those a less frequent and not direct. If flying in from other places, a connection through Boston is really your only option. Also, keep in mind, you can always fly into Boston and then hop on either the Plymouth & Brocton or the Peter Pan bus to catch a ferry out of Woods Hole. Car services (Uber, etc.) are also options that can take you directly to Woods Hole from Logan, but unsurprisingly, these are expensive.

If you choose to fly your way to the Vineyard, rental cars are available at the MVY airport - options are: Hertz, Budget, and Avis.

GETTING AROUND THE ISLAND

There will be transportation to all major events during our Wedding Weekend from a central location in Edgartown and West Chop, but if you happen to be staying elsewhere or need help getting around we recommend the below Taxi services as Ubers can be somewhat unreliable on the island during this time. If possible please schedule your rides with the below taxi services ahead of time and make sure to have cash on hand.

The Winnetu Oceanside Resort is probably the second most upscale hotel on-island. It is located slightly outside of Edgartown (great for those with a car and if you’re looking for a nicer place to stay!) The resort does offer shuttles to and from Edgartown proper. The walk isn’t terrible, but definitely more of a workout walk…The Winnetu provides a direct view of South Beach, and offers the most amenities of any hotel/resort on island.

Home Rentals

Home rentals via Vrbo or Airbnb are also great options for those looking to shack up with a group of friends or larger family groups. Pricing obviously varies but there are definitely some budget friendly options. As the case with all your stay options, spots get swooped up fast so we recommend booking places soon!

Airbnb

Vrbo

Also, we have a booking agent that rents houses in West Chop so if you would like to book a house there (where the Garcia Family lives) please reach out to me Ali Garcia directly (algarc92@gmail.com) and I can help coordinate.

OUR STORY

While rolling through the valleys of their youth, Ali and Igor were introduced inside of a Bushwick loft apartment on a sunny afternoon in June of 2014. It was only a few days until they realized they shared a penchant for adventure and relished in the mutual discovery of thrills hidden in quiet moments. Following their initial meeting, life moved pretty fast for them. Igor went on to study in Italy and Ali went back to Tulane University for her final year. Despite the distance, they grew ever closer to each other with each passing day. Eventually, they both ended up in New York City, and after a couple of years of trying to establish their careers, they both moved into a shared apartment in Jersey City.

They were there for each other through times of sorrow and through times of joy. Despite the tribulations that the world all too often brings, they embarked on more adventures and kept on chasing new experiences together. They found a voice in each other that they’ve never heard in anyone else. Like two kids on a playground, Ali and Igor broke out of their sandbox and walked off into the sunset, holding hands. They are both eager to see what is over the horizon, but no matter what lies ahead, they will always be there for each other when the sun goes down.

They are so excited to share so many more life moments together and can’t wait to celebrate with you all!
